CHARGE: Ad-Hoc Editorial Nominating Committee Formed: 2009 Aug 20 End: 2009 Oct 1 1). For each Editorship separately, the committee will: a) identify [ at least ] two suitable candidates for each position. b) inform the ISBA President of names of all such candidates considered. c) report back to the ISBA President by October 1st 2009 with the names of 2 candidates for each position, identifying the preferred candidate. In identifying candidates, the committee may choose to consult with current editors and individuals involved in the editorial process at all levels, as well as the Board. The committee may choose to solicit nominations and suggestions from the full ISBA Membership via a note in the ISBA Bulletin (to appear early Sept 1st), or proceed without broader consultation as the committee decides. 2). For the three Editorships separately, the committee will consider the following criteria: All 3: Candidates must be current (2009) ISBA members and indicate commitment to continuing membership to if not beyond the end of 2012 (when the editorial term expires). BA: Viable candidates will be recognized leaders in Bayesian statistics; have some editorial experience with a leading journal with responsibilities as AE or above, including awareness of electronic publication processes; be willing to commit substantial time; ensure commitment for 3 years, with possible renewal; be selected with no regard to geographic constraints. Prior experience with editorial matters at BA will be viewed as positive though is not expected to be a limiting consideration for otherwise strong candidates. Web: Candidates should have an interest in Bayesian statistics; be willing to commit substantial time and initiative to maintain, develop and regularly update the ISBA web site; have sufficient technical competence and experience to work with ISBA IT staff; ensure commitment for 3 years, with possible renewal; be selected with no geographic constraint. Prior experience with web editorial or web developmental matters are expected. Bulletin: Candidates should be recognized as active researchers in Bayesian statistics; be familiar with the historical and current operations of the Bulletin; have good and writing and organizational skills; ensure a commitment for 3 years, with possible renewal; be selected with no geographic constraint. Prior experience with Bulletin operations will be viewed as positive though is not expected to be a limiting consideration for otherwise strong candidates. 3). Item 1 notwithstanding, the committee may consider proposing ad-hoc one-year extension of any of the current editorships. This will be entertained by the Board only in the -- a priori unlikely -- event that the committee finds it impossible to identify viable and available candidates to assume a 3 year term to begin on January 1 2010. Following approval by the Board (ISBA bylaws, item J.4), the President will contact the preferred candidates to make the appointments.
